R7 Quad Mini Drivers Make Debut on TOUR

We started the week off with a bang by launching the R7 Quad Mini Driver. There are few pieces of equipment that will stop any Tour player in their tracks and R7 Quad Mini did just that. Just about a player on the range that saw the iconic throw back head cover had to stop what they were doing and take a peek under the hood.

Thankfully our Tour Reps came prepared with a built-to-spec R7 Quad Mini for each of our Team TaylorMade athletes. I carried the mini driver's out to the 18th tee to allow for some on course testing and couldn't even make it to the tee box before Tommy, Scottie and Collin asked to take a look at what I was carrying. Each of them stepped up to the closing tee box of Harbour Town and unloaded drives with R7 Quad Mini. It was so good for Tommy, he did extensive testing on the range on Wednesday and will put it through its paces at home during his two off weeks before the Truist Championship.

AN ICON REIMAGINED: INTRODUCING THE R7 QUAD MINI DRIVER

Out with the old, in with the new. It’s a saying as old as time itself, but it’s one that’s generally accepted when it comes to golf equipment. And while the design teams and engineers at TaylorMade are always looking forward, they also realize that sometimes it’s worth revisiting the past in order to remain Beyond Driven.

That’s exactly what we’ve done with the all new R7 Quad Mini Driver. Inspired by two of the most popular drivers in company history (R7 and R7 SuperQuad released in 2004), the R7 Quad Mini Driver pays homage to what’s come before while creating its own modern identity.

“The R7 Quad Mini Driver is one of those projects that got everyone excited from the initial concept, and being able to bring back one of the most iconic clubs in TaylorMade history (R7 Driver) was a dream come true. We couldn’t be more excited to continue setting the pace in the Mini Driver category.”

Let’s have a closer look at how the R7 Quad Mini Driver blends the best of the past and the present.

NOSTALGIC INSPIRATION

I vividly remember hitting the R7 Driver for the first time in a practice round for a tournament. It was the first driver on the market to utilize Movable Weight Technology. With the simple turn of a wrench and the adjusting of weights, I could manipulate ball flight in drastic ways without having to change my swing. At the time, this driver was revolutionary.

The original R7 Driver went on to capture more than 30 professional wins worldwide, including the 2004 U.S. Open at Southern Hills.

ADJUSTABILITY WHERE IT'S NEEDED MOST

Movable Weight Technology that allows you to dial in spin, distance, trajectory and shot shape with precise CG placement. The Quad Weighting System includes two 13g weights and two 4g weights with two ports in the back of the clubhead and one each in the toe and heel.

By moving weight and CG toward the front of the club, you get a penetrating ball flight that’s ideal for maximizing distance. Conversely, placing more weight in the back of the club and moving the CG accordingly in that direction, you gain enhanced control and ease of use off the deck. You can also purchase additional weights for an even greater range of adjustability.

When our designers and engineers set about conceptualizing the R7 Quad Mini Driver, one of their main goals was minimizing mass in the top of the head. The inclusion of the Infinity Carbon Crown does just that. Its ultralightweight construction allows mass to be relocated to other parts of the clubhead where it’s used more efficiently.

Visually, the Infinity Carbon Crown presents a clean, elegant profile that’s sure to give you confidence when you’re standing over the ball.

PROVEN TAYLORMADE TECHNOLOGIES

The R7 Quad Mini Driver also incorporates Twist Face™ which helps golfers maintain tighter downrange dispersion, especially on mis-hits. Speed Pocket™ increases face flexion and rebound at impact enhancing ball speed and launch, most notably on shots struck low on the face. Together, these technologies work in conjunction to provide golfers increased versatility and playability.

SPECIALIZED COMPONENT PACKAGE

While there’s clearly plenty of tech to talk about in the R7 Quad Mini Driver’s head, the component package is equally impressive. The stock Fujikura Speeder MD (Mini Driver) shaft is specifically designed to help keep spin rates down while also aiding in stability without adding weight.

Aesthetically, you’re sure to love the black head with white, red and yellow accents that harken back to 2004 and the original R7. The black headcover also features the original R7 logo with red, white and yellow trim.
