Equipment Reviewed – Callaway Elyte Mini Driver

This month, our PGA pro Tom takes the Callaway Elyte Mini Driver out for a spin to see what all the buzz is about.

Designed to blend the control of a 3-wood with the power of a driver, this compact club promises big performance in a smaller package - but does it deliver?

From tee shots to tight fairways, Tom puts it through its paces and gives his honest thoughts on feel, forgiveness, distance, and who this club is really for.

Look, Feel & Tech

One of the first things you notice with the Callaway Elyte Mini Driver is its adjustability. It features three movable weight ports - heel, toe, and centre - which allow you to dial in a draw or fade bias. The adjustable hosel also lets you tweak loft and lie for further customisation.

The club comes in two lofts: 11° and 13.5°. I went with the 13.5° to make it more playable off the deck.

It also features Callaway’s Ai-designed face, engineered to maintain ball speed across off-centre strikes - whether it's off the heel, toe, or centre.

The shaft is two inches shorter than a standard driver, giving you greater control without sacrificing distance.

Off the Tee

The club was consistently reliable off the tee, especially on holes where finding the fairway was crucial. This club could very quickly becoming a go-to club in the bag. It launches effortlessly, giving you great carry and stopping power.

Even a strike that came slightly off the toe earlier still felt solid off the clubface, with minimal drop-off in performance. At address, it looks great behind the ball and gives you real confidence to swing freely.

Off the Deck

I hit some of the best shots I’ve ever played from the fairway using the Elyte Mini Driver, comfortably reaching distances between 250 and 260 yards. That’s seriously impressive territory - beyond what I typically manage with my 3-wood, which often comes up short and leaves me relying on a chip-and-putt to save par.

What stood out most was how easy it was to launch off the deck. The ball flight was high and strong, with plenty of carry and just the right amount of roll out. It gave me the confidence to go for longer par 5s in two -something I’d usually rule out with a standard fairway wood.

Even from a tight lie, the club glided through the turf cleanly, and the strike felt solid and stable. It’s not just long - it’s reliable.

Tom's Verdict

This club has genuinely impressed - especially when hitting from the deck. The combination of control, power, and forgiveness makes this a serious contender for anyone looking for a reliable alternative to a driver or a fairway wood.

For players looking to add a bit of extra firepower without sacrificing control, especially from the fairway, the Elyte Mini is a game-changer.
